Event Chair, England Team – Home International Regatta 2022


📣 The Role

As event Chair, you will oversee the organisation and delivery of an international standard multi-lane rowing regatta. In line with the ethos of the event this role will be to give someone the opportunity and experience of running an international multi-lane regatta.

😊 About you

We are looking for dynamic Event Chair to lead the organising committee in planning of the 2022 Home International Regatta. You’ll have excellent organisational skills, overseeing and recruiting your committee as well as being an effective communicator able to inspire and enable your committee and volunteers to produce a high-quality event.

Experience or knowledge of rowing and planning regattas are desirable but not essential.  Experience and/or knowledge in event management is required.

🦁 About Us

We are the governing body for rowing, responsible for supporting grassroots rowing in England and the selection of England Teams for Home International and Commonwealth Competitions. We also manage the training and selection of the GB Rowing Team in preparation for the Olympics, Paralympics and other international competitions.

England hosts the Home International Regatta once every four years.

🚣‍ About the Home International Regatta

The Home International Regatta is an historic annual competition taking place on the forth weekend of July. The event involving the four “Home Nations” of England, Scotland, Wales & Ireland dates back to 1962. Every race counts towards combined team trophies for Junior Women, Junior Men, Senior Women and Senior Men.

A new racing format, announced in 2020, means rowers will have a minimum of two races, with the majority racing three times. Racing takes place over 2,000m for all boat classes (shown below). With the 4x and 8+ racing a second time over 500m.

🙌 Our Offer

The position of Event Chair is a voluntary position. As part of our offer, you will be given British Rowing Coach membership and you’ll be supported through:

  • appropriate British Rowing training as required;
  • support from British Rowing Event Manager; and
  • reasonable expenses will be covered.

⌚ Timetable

The 2022 Home International Regatta will take place on July 23rd at a location TBC. The position will conclude shortly after this once appropriate reviews and feedback have taken place.
