Emanuel School – Teacher with a Rowing Specialism

We are looking to recruit an additional member of the teaching staff for September 2024, who combines a passion for rowing and an understanding of working within a school rowing programme, with good subject knowledge and confident classroom teaching ability in one of the academic subjects which Emanuel offers.

This an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified teacher to play a key role within Emanuel School’s rowing programme and as a member of our teaching community.

You will seek to challenge, engage and inspire our pupils to achieve their full potential in both rowing and an academic subject. You will also undertake a pastoral role (as a form tutor, or as a co-tutor if an ECT) and will get involved in co-curricular activities and outreach programmes.

In addition to your teaching and pastoral responsibilities, you will also lead and support a rowing age group, appropriate to your level of expertise. A commitment to attending Saturday training sessions during term time and training camps during the holidays will be expected.

We are looking for a teacher who can combine a passion for rowing and an understanding of working within a school rowing programme, with good subject knowledge and the ability to teach an academic subject. You will possess a specialist sports and/or relevant British Rowing coaching qualification, as well as an RYA Powerboat Qualification. You will provide a proven track record of excellent teaching at a secondary level, along with previous experience of leading a rowing squad.

Salary: Competitive, dependent on skills and experience

Type: Full-time, but part-time might be considered
