Delivery Coaches (World Rowing Coastal Sculling)

📣 The role

Interested in developing a growing new format for rowing? We are looking for dynamic coaches to expand opportunities for new participants to take part in both exciting World Rowing Coastal Sculling formats of Beach Sprint and Endurance racing.

You will organise and deliver Community Beach days, offering opportunities to both new and existing rowers to give these exciting formats a go. As part of these days, you may also identify rowers who show potential to be part of Team GB. The Community Beach Days will showcase what the Beach Sprint format is all about giving rowers a taste of what this fast paced, form of the sport is all about.

👋 About you

We are looking for someone who is dynamic and inspiring to engage with various rowing communities to excite and empower them about the Coastal Sculling. We need you to challenge concepts of what rowing is all about. You will have the confidence and competence to coach rowing on coastal waters and on and off a swimming beach. You will also teach the tactical and technical understanding of the beach sprint format.

You will be an effective communicator, with the ability to inspire those around you and make contacts with venues and partner organisations to arrange days and events. You will also have experience planning events including all aspects such as promotion, risk assessments, arranging safety cover and planning volunteers to make sure participants stay safe and everyone has an enjoyable experience.

We are the governing body for rowing, responsible for supporting grassroots rowing in England and getting the GB Rowing Team ready for the Olympics, Paralympics and other international competitions.

British Rowing is committed to growing all forms of the sport including World Rowing Coastal Sculling formats. This includes both giving people the opportunity to take part in these formats but also inspire those with the potential to represent Great Britain.

If accepted, we will franchise out this model to you giving you the opportunity to run kite marked British Rowing Community Beach Days. We will support you by giving you:

  • British Rowing Delivery Coach Training
  • Event Organisers Training
  • Guides and toolkits to be able to plan days and events
  • British Rowing Coastal Sculling Delivery Coach Kite Mark
  • Delivery Coach Coastal Sculling Forum

🗓️ Training Dates

Virtual Training for this role will take place between 18:00-21:00 on the 19th, 21st, 26th and 28th of May. A full practical training day giving you hands-on experience with coastal boats will take place on either the 4th, 11th or 25th of June. The venue and specific date are to be confirmed but please keep these dates free.
