British Rowing – World Rowing Coastal Championships and Beach Sprint Finals 2022 Administrative Assistant

Great Britain has won the rights to host the World Rowing Coastal Championships and Beach Sprint Finals in 2022. They will be held in Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire, Wales, in October.

📣A bit about the role

We are looking for an administrative assistant, they will support the organising committee and chair of the steering group with day to day administration. This will generally consist of organising meetings, taking minutes and arranging accommodation and travel as required. At the event the role will be to support the event operations e.g. managing the on-site office.

You will have the inside tack on everything that is going on behind the scenes of staging a world event. This isn’t something that comes up very often. You will have quite a few trips to Saundersfoot – a lovely part of the world and meet a huge variety of people at the cutting edge of international sport. Rowers tend to be friendly types, and though not everyone on the organising committee is a rower by trade, they are enthusiastic about the sport.

👋 A bit about you

We require a supremely organised, high energy and efficient person to support the organising committee and steering group with their day to day administration. The ideal candidate would be particularly motivated by being part of something that is fast-paced and continually evolving. You will like to be involved, see how everything fits together for a World event and drink up the knowledge.

This role, though voluntary, would suit someone looking to break into the world of events management through a rapid exposure to a dynamic and new event. Previously such people have gone onto become major event producers.  This could be you…

🚣‍ A bit about us

The World Rowing Coastal Championships and Beach Sprint Finals is rapidly growing in popularity and the International Olympic Committee will vote, in December this year, on whether one or other formats will be included in a future Olympics. There is great scope for innovation and 2022 will be a particularly exciting year in the development of the sport.

So far international competitive rowing on the world stage has been dominated by flat water rowing, with coastal rowing being a relatively new format. The reason for its rise in popularity is because it is fun, fast and a lot of things can happen in a race which makes it awesome to watch. It’s also held besides and on a beach – what could be better?
