British Rowing – Lead Safeguarding Officer

📣A bit about the role

You will be a part of the Governance Team and responsible for managing and reporting concerns about children and adults at risk.

In your role you will be actively supporting club welfare officers and regional welfare advisers in their recruitment, training and ensuring that safeguarding standards are met and maintained.

We’re a small team and so we might also ask you to do other bits from time to time.

👋 A bit about you

You will have previous experience in Safeguarding Officer role and child-focused approach.

You will be able to develop and produce national level guidance, policies and know how to deal with reports of poor practice.

You will have excellent communication skills and be an effective influencer.

Previous experience of working in a sport sector/national governing body will be advantageous but it is not essential.

Our passion is rowing. We are the governing body for rowing, responsible for supporting grassroots rowing in England and getting the GB Rowing Team ready for the Olympics, Paralympics and other international competitions.

We are a membership organisation with over 33,000 individual members and we are looking to support over 550 affiliated clubs and 220 affiliated events. We cover all types of rowing whether it’s on the river, in the gym (on a rowing machine) or even on the sea and so a key aim is to use our content to help engage the wider rowing community.

We have an inspiring group of elite athletes who are all engaged and keen to get involved in promoting their sport.

🙌 What we offer

You’ll be based in our head office alongside the river in Hammersmith, London but we have an Agile Working Policy so regular work from home is possible.

You’ll be employed full-time with a salary of around £28,000 each year.
