Bristol Ariel Rowing Club – Experienced Coach

Bristol Ariel Rowing Club is seeking an experienced coach to help support all levels of members on the water of varied rowing ability. We are looking to improve the technique and performance of our members, therefore experience across all levels of rowing and sculling is essential. We take pride in our inclusive approach to the sport and, as such, have a wide range of experience, ages and backgrounds within our squads, so the ideal candidate will be happy to flex their approach to suit crew requirements.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Possess a minimum of a UK level 2 coaching qualification alongside an RYA level 2 powerboat qualification.
  • Good watermanship and demonstrable experience coaching adults of all rowing abilities is required.
  • Must be reliable, punctual and be able to enthuse rowers to enjoy the sport, particularly at the novice end of the Club.
  • Work alongside the Club Captain and squad leads to assess performance and aid crew selection for local regattas and head races, encouraging enthusiastic and competitive race attendance (we do not require the coach to attend races).
  • Possess a good understanding of common sports injuries and injury prevention is desirable.
  • Work to encourage and uphold the Club Values: Belong, Achieve, Contribute and Respect.

The post holder must be registered as self-employed and will work for approximately 8-10 hours per week. They will be supported in this role by unpaid volunteers who will manage most of the associated admin. Renumeration is dependent on experience. Hours are negotiable and flexible, but due to most of our athletes being in full-time work it would currently involve Saturday and Sunday mornings (8:00-12:00) and one midweek evening (18:30-20:00) in British Summer Time.

Please submit applications to Bristol Ariel Rowing Club Captain – Lisa Sargeant at [email protected].

Interviews from Monday 29th November 2021.

The post commences in January 2022.

Application Dates: From Monday 15th November 2021 to Friday 26th November 2021
