Classification Opportunity – Thames

Time: 45 minute slot to be allocated after application

What is Classification? British Rowing adopts the FISA Para-Rowing system of classification which places rowers into classes according to how much their impairment impact rowing. Rowers who do not meet the British Rowing classification may be eligible for a Rowability Grouping.

To be classified as a Para-Rower or Rowability Rower, applicants must:
  • Complete a Medical Declaration Application Form.
  • Provide a signed letter or documentation from a Medical Doctor confirming a clear medical diagnoses of the physical disability, the date of the injury, and the functional effect the injury has on the rower.
  • Provide proof of prior International Blind Sports Association (IBSA) classification along with a sports class, or have their Ophthalmologist/Optometrist complete a Vision Qualification Form (Visually Impaired applicants only)

Upon receipt of these, if applicable applicants will be sent an hour time slot to attend, and be classified by one of British Rowing's Medical and Technical Classifiers.
