As a child, Archie was interested in playing competitive rugby and managed to play at a county level.
He started indoor rowing and progressed to club rowing as part of a rehab plan after he sustained an injury in a rugby match as a teenager. When GB rowing coach, Helen Brown recruited him to the GB World Class Start programme in 2018 he committed to pursuing rowing full time.
His biggest inspiration in life has been watching and learning from his Scottish-born fathers work ethic and passion as a conflict correspondent for Sky News and then more recently a sports cameraman. Outside of rowing Archie enjoys cooking, being a sports fan, and getting out in nature.
