Insurance advice updated

Clubs, coaches and rowers, wherever they row, need to check with their local navigation authority that they are fully aware of the advice and guidance that has been issued to manage their rowing activities, and ensure that this advice is taken into account in their own risk assessments.

British Rowing’s insurers, Perkins Slade, advise that if you have an accident when warning boards are displayed:

“Your insurance could be invalidated if you have acted recklessly, but it would depend on the particular circumstances of the incident. It is important that you have carried out a risk assessment, in particular understanding and taking account of advice from your club and heeding the information provided by the local navigation authority, before commencing any activity. If in doubt, do not row.”

If your club is not insured through Perkins Slade, you will need to take advice from your insurers.

Without our members, we wouldn't be able to provide the guidance, support and emergency funding that we have been able to during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please consider continuing to support our sport by renewing or purchasing your British Rowing membership today.
