Safeguarding Update

A safeguarding update from Laura Fieldman, British Rowing’s Child Protection Administrator:

‘We are currently reviewing the British Rowing Safeguarding and Protecting Children Policy and all associated guidance material.

‘This is just to remind everyone that, if you have any concerns about the welfare of children or other related issues at your club, you should speak to your club welfare officer (CWO) in confidence. All clubs should have an appointed CWO, so check who yours is – their contact details should be clearly displayed within the club.

‘On Saturday 1 December, the CRB merges with the Independent Safeguarding Authority to become the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). However, the service of processing applications for criminal records checks will remain the same.

‘We’ll keep you updated with any future changes but, for the time being, it’s business as usual.’
