ARA Medals of Honour 2008

The 2008 ARA Medals of Honour were awarded at the Annual General Meeting on Saturday 27th September. Di Ellis, Chairman, said  ‘it is my pleasure to announce the names of those awarded this year’s ARA Medals of Honour, given in recognition of two people who have given almost a lifetime of outstanding service to rowing.’

The medals went to:

Ian Fisher

Past member of ARA Council as a Divisional Representative and past member of the ARA Executive, past Chairman of the ARA Competition Committee and current member of the ARA Competition Committee, the ARA Rules Committee, FISA Umpire and Great Britain’s umpire at the Beijing Olympic Games.

Ann Southey

Past member of ARA Council as a divisional representative, member of the Competition Committe, organiser of the Women’s Head of the River Race, long term member of the Henley Women’s Regatta Committee and one of the founder members.  Also past member of the Pairs’ Head Committee, past member of the Women’s Rowing Commission and National Championships Committee, coach umpire, launch driver 2005 World Cup and 2006 World Championships.

The dates for the presentation of the awards have yet to be decided.
