Caroline O'Connor
For the 2010 World Cup Series Caroline coxed the women's eight at all three events, winning gold in Bled, silver in Munich and bronze in Lucerne. This has been a promising season for the women's eight who have shown consistency throughout the World Cup series.
Caroline raced as cox of the women's eight at the 2009 World Championships in Poznan, finishing in 5th place. This followed the eight's gold medal at the 2009 Banyoles World Cup and 5th place in Munich.
She was cox of the women's eight for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and finished 5th, having won her first GB vest in 2005. Since then she has coxed the eight at each World Championships with her best result an excellent bronze medal at the 2007 Worlds in Munich which also clinched the crew's qualification for the Olympics.
Caroline learnt to cox at Oxford Brookes University in 2001. She became National Champion in the women's coxed four in 2002 and in 2004 was the men's eight cox at the World University Championships.
She graduated from Oxford Brookes in Human Biology in 2004 and has put her career as a science teacher on hold for the time being to concentrate on coxing.
