Only 12 months after she first attended a Para-rowing Talent ID day, Ellen Buttrick became a World Champion in the PR3 Mixed Coxed Four.
She subsequently defended her title at the 2019 World Championships in Linz, Austria and now has her sights set firmly on selection for the 2020 Paralympic Games.
Before joining the Great Britain Rowing Team Ellen studied Geography at Northumbria University and following graduation enjoyed working in the UK and Europe. She enjoys spending time outdoors, with friends and family, visiting new places and gaining knowledge and skills.
Alongside her training, Ellen supports refugees and asylum seekers across the Thames Valley with the Oxford based charity, Sanctuary Hosting. She also volunteers with Girlguiding UK, where she has been a member since joining Brownies, aged 7.
The PR3 mixed coxed four has been named as one of three finalists for the Para-rowing crew of the year at the World Rowing Awards, with the winner to be announced on 23 November
