Bournemouth set for largest ever British Rowing Beach Sprint Championships
Entries for the 2025 British Rowing Beach Sprint Championships have nearly doubled from last year

2025 will be a record entry for the British Rowing Beach Sprint Championships. More than 130 competitors will race across 156 boats, smashing the previous highest total of 85 entries.
59 clubs will be travelling to the Bournemouth beach, often regarded as one of the best beaches across the country. This is the largest number of clubs that have ever made the trip to the Beach Sprint Championships.
Bournemouth Beach will host a wide range of athletes, from 14 to 63, with events for Students and Seniors in between, competing in Solos, Doubles and Mixed Doubles. The largest event will be the CWJ16 Solos – a new event this year, which will see 23 scullers travel to the south coast and get stuck into all the action.
There is still the opportunity to participate and enter the Mixed Challenge Coxed Quad. In this new event for 2025, there is the ability to enter a crew or just one seat. Up to eight crews will race at the end of each day in this new competition. Seat entries will be drawn into quads on the day, with additional seat entries advertised and available on the day if we have not already received entries for eight crews to race on that day.
Interim CEO of British Rowing, Mark Davies, was delighted with the news of this record entry. “With Beach Sprints now an Olympic event, interest in this format is ramping up, which is great to see,” he said.
“The number of entries is way past our expectations, and we are looking forward to a brilliant weekend. It’s going to be super exciting competition and I am sure a fabulous spectacle. If you’re anywhere nearby, come down and watch!”
Entries will include reigning World Champions, as well as members of the GB Beach Sprint Team training for this year’s World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals in Antalya, Turkey, later in the year.
Full details of entries and a provisional schedule will be published on Friday 22 August.
The 2025 British Rowing Beach Sprint Championships will be held on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st August at Bournemouth, Dorset.
