800+ crews ready to race at 2023 British Rowing Masters Championships
Medals will be up for grabs in 137 events at the National Water Sports Centre, Nottingham from 10-11 June
The Championships received 821 entries, which is the third highest number ever, and the highest since the pandemic.
In the Championship events, which comprise just over two-thirds of the entries and races, single sculling is clearly thriving amongst men aged 55 and over; the biggest event is Op MasF 1x, which has 20 entries, while Op MasE 1x has 14. The largest Women’s event is the W MasE 2x with 13 crews. The most popular Non-Championship event is Open A-C 1x with 15 entries, followed by Op D-F 4x and Op D-F 1x, both with 14.
Of the 135 clubs represented, Monmouth RC has the biggest entry with 35 boats racing, followed by Kingston RC with 31, and Tideway Scullers School with 27. Nottingham RC, Ardingly RC, Putney Town RC and Maidstone Invicta RC all have 20 or more entries. The largest overseas squad is from Portora BC, Ireland, which is bringing 18 crews.
All of these clubs will be contenders for the Victor Ludorum trophy, won by Ardingly RC in 2022, which is sponsored this year by Faster Masters Rowing.
Racing will take place over 1,000m from 09:00-18:30 on Saturday and 09:00-16:30 on Sunday.
