There are so many reasons that rowing is the perfect way to get active in 2021:

  1. Rowing clubs are a great way to meet new people
We’ve all spent enough of the last year on video calls and staring at the same four walls – as lockdown restrictions start to relax, our rowing clubs have been able to reopen their doors. Rowing clubs genuinely welcome anyone and are really social places. There’s nothing better than getting on the water with your crew and our latest guidance on COVID-19, allows for a crew boats to get out on the water.
  2. Rowing lets you see where you live from a new perspective
In the last few months, the chances are you’ve got to know your local area very well! Not only does rowing get you outdoors (and hopefully enjoy some nice weather!) but it will also give you a whole new perspective on where you live. There’s so much you can see from on the water and you’ll find yourself noticing things you’ve never spotted before. You don’t need to be by a river either – there’s rowing clubs on rivers, lakes and the sea – and if outdoors isn’t for you…
  3. Outdoors not your thing, gyms are opening again soon too
As well as rowing clubs opening up, gyms will start to reopen in the next step of the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown. Indoor rowing (on the rowing machine) is a great way to get the most out of your gym workout. We have great videos to give you tips on the technique you need and workouts videos to help you get started.
  4. Rowing is a fantastic way to get active for all ages
Rowing really is a sport for all ages regardless of whether you want to just get active or give competition a try. Rowing generally starts from around the age of 11 upwards and there’s a thriving masters rowing scene for the more mature rower.
  5. Rowing is an all-over body workout
The rowing action works nearly all the muscles in your body. Whether you’re pushing hard or not, you’ll be working out your body whilst having a great time. Even better, not only will you be improving your physical health, exercise and getting outdoors will do wonders for your mental health.
