Sad news of the death of Anna Roots

It is with enormous sadness that British Rowing has learned of the untimely death of Anna Roots (nee Townsend) following a tragic accident whilst cycling in Scotland.

A great ambassador for the sport, Anna was a member of Mortlake Anglian and Alpha Boat Club and represented England with distinction at the Commonwealth Rowing Championships in Canada in 2010.

She will be very sadly missed by all who knew and rowed with her. Our most sincere condolences go to her family and to all her very many friends at Mortlake Anglian and Alpha Boat Club and in the wider rowing community.

Anna and her friend Rebekah Edgar were fundraising in aid of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research at the time of her death. Anyone wishing to make a donation to this very worthwhile cause in Anna’s memory can do so via the following link: https://www.justgiving.com/beksannaJOGLE/.
