GB Rowing Team’s young guns do well in Munich

The Munich Junior Regatta brought some excellent results for the GB Rowing Team’s young guns over the weekend.

29 junior rowers competed in Germany in 20 races across the weekend, with some of the most notable performances coming from the junior men.

Nottingham RC’s Rowan Law, Chris Lawrie of Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School, Steven Parsonage of Norwich RC and Westminster School’s Sam Meijer made up the crew which were victorious in the men’s quadruple scull on Sunday.

GB’s juniors also took a third place finish in the ‘A’ final of the junior men’s eight, and came fourth in the ‘A’ final of the junior women’s quad – the crew for the quad included Charlotte Hodgkins-Byrne of Gloucester Hartpury RC, whose older sister Mathilda competed at the recent GB Senior Team Trials.

Lead Coach for the Juniors, Richard Boulton, said: “There were some promising performances but it is only an indicator of where we are now and there is still a long way to go before the World Rowing Junior Champs in August”
