Matthew Tarrant

At the 2011 European Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Matt raced in the men's four with Mason Durant, Fred Gill and Scott Durant, finishing 7th.

At the World Rowing U23 Championships in Amsterdam, Matt raced in the men's eight, winning a bronze medal.

Matt raced in the men's eight at the 2010 World Rowing U23 Championships in Brest, Belarus winning a bronze medal.  He then raced again in the eight at the FISU World University Rowing Championships in Hungary, this time winning gold in a boat that took the lead from the start and continued to extend that lead, finishing a length ahead of Estonia, with Ireland in third place.

He is in his second year at U23 level having raced in the men’s four at the 2009 World U23 Championships, finishing 11th.

Matt has experience of representing GB at junior level too.  He finished 7th in the men’s pair at the 2007 World Rowing Junior Championships and was a silver medallist at the 2008 World Junior Championships in the coxed four.   In 2009 Matt competed at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival where he won gold in the eight and four as well as silver in the pair.
