Trafford Rowing Club – Junior Rowing Coach

Trafford Rowing Club are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Junior Rowing Coach to support the delivery and development of their junior rowing programme. Working closely with the Head Junior Coach, you will play a key role in coaching athletes across a range of ages and abilities, supporting both participation and performance pathways. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring coach looking to develop within a supportive club environment

Key Responsibilities

Coaching & Athlete Development

  • Plan and deliver high-quality land and water-based training sessions for junior athletes.
  • Support the development of athletes across the junior pathway, from beginner to competitive level.
  • Assist with crew selection, technical development, and race preparation under the guidance of the Head Junior Coach.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating training environment.

Programme Delivery

  • Work collaboratively with the Head Junior Coach and wider coaching team to deliver a cohesive junior programme.
  • Contribute to “Learn to Row” initiatives and junior recruitment activities.
  • Support attendance at regattas, head races, training camps, and club events.

Club & Operational Support

  • Assist with the day-to-day running of the boathouse, including equipment preparation and maintenance.
  • Support the organisation of training sessions, trips, and competitions.
  • Promote the club within the local community and schools.

Safeguarding & Welfare

  • Ensure all sessions are delivered safely and in line with club and British Rowing policies.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive environment for all junior participants.
Person Specification

Essential

  • Passion for rowing and developing young athletes
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate junior rowers
  • Flexible approach to working hours

Desirable

  • British Rowing Level 2 Coaching Qualification (or willingness to work towards)
  • Previous experience coaching junior athletes
  • First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications
