RGS Worcester – Rowing Coach
RGS Worcester is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Rowing Coach to join their Sports Department
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality coaching to pupils of varying ages and abilities, from beginners to competitive crews. They will play a key role in developing the School’s rowing programme, supporting pupils in their personal growth, and promoting a culture of excellence, enjoyment, and participation.
Job Description
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging rowing sessions for pupils across a range of abilities
- Coach individuals, crews, and squads in preparation for local, regional, and national competitions
- Promote safe and effective use of rowing equipment, ensuring boats and facilities are well maintained
- Accompany pupils to training camps, fixtures, as required (including weekends)
- Work closely with colleagues in the Sports Department to develop pathways for progression and participation
- Encourage pupils to uphold the school’s values both on and off the water
- Assist with administration tasks such as training schedules, competition entries, and risk assessments.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Strong rowing background with proven coaching experience (ideally within a school or youth environment)
- Relevant coaching qualification (e.g. UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Rowing or equivalent)
- Excellent communication and motivational skills
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable:
- Experience of rowing at a high competitive level
- RYA Level 2 Powerboat Training
- First Aid qualification and knowledge of water safety procedures
- Driving Licence with Minibus entitlement (D1)
Salary: Circa £36,000 Full Time Equivalent
Type: Flexible working hours, Term Time only, work on Saturday fixtures as required
