Brentford Boat Club – Rowing Coach
Brentford Boat Club is seeking to appoint an experienced professional to work under the direction of the Head Coach and collaboratively with the rest of the team.
The Role
Brentford Boat Club is a successful grassroots community rowing club, committed to making rowing accessible to all and developing the next generation of talent. The successful applicant will be committed to the inclusive ethos of the club and be approachable, self-motivated and adaptable.
Key responsibilities
- Working alongside the Head Coach to plan and run coaching sessions both on the water and on land.
- Successfully to coach and motivate juniors of different abilities, from novice to more experienced rowers who have raced at national level.
- Supporting the safe development of the young athletes fitness and technique
- Helping at events such as trailering, boating, pre-race warm-ups
- Responsible for general boat maintenance and repairs
Essential Skills and experience
- Experience of Squad training and racing either as a coach or athlete
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work from your own initiative as well as part of a team
- Commitment to delivering high quality training through a positive and motivating approach
- Managing & delivering sessions safely both on & off the water
- Positive, friendly and resourceful disposition.
Desirable Skills and Experience
These are not essential, but you will be required to actively engage in achieving these upon your appointment in order to gain these accreditations.
- RYA Level 2 coastal powerboat award.
- First Aid Certified
- Child welfare and Safeguarding training.
- British Rowing Level 2 Rowing Coaching Award.
- Tideway Coaches Endorsement.
- Trailer Licence, B2+E.

Salary: Dependent on skills, qualifications and experience.
Type: A combination of week days and week-ends, term-time and during school holidays.
