GB Beach Sprint Performance Development Academies
High performance centres providing professional coaching, equipment and support, for the development of athletes from any background who show potential within the Olympic Beach Sprint discipline

The GB Beach Sprint Performance Development Academies operate in a similar manner to the highly successful classic rowing Performance Development Academies. They offer professional coaching, equipment and other services to support athletes on the Olympic Beach Sprint Pathway.

There are two Beach Sprint Performance Academies in England, supported through funding from Sport England and the Backing the Best initiative.

South Coast Performance Development Academy
This is based at Knoll Beach, Studland, and Bournemouth.
The Academy has a series of official partner clubs – Christchurch, Poole, Lymington, Southsea, Shanklin Sandown, and Bournemouth University. Weekly sessions take place for rowers from those clubs who are identified as having potential within the Beach Sprint format.
North East Performance Development Academy
This is based at South Shields Sailing Club.
The Academy’s official partner clubs are Tynemouth RC, Hexham RC, Tees TC and Tyne ARC. It will run weekly Beach Sprint-specific sessions for identified rowers from local clubs.
Scottish Beach Sprint Performance Development Academy
British Rowing has also established a GB Beach Sprint Performance Development Academy working in partnership with Scottish Rowing, Sport Scotland and the University of St Andrews.
This Beach Sprint Performance Development Academy will provide professional programmes for athletes identified within the GB Beach Sprint pathway, with bespoke coaching, equipment and support via a world leading academic and sporting university.
