Martha Birtles
Rower // Women's Squad
Club: Oxford Brookes University BC/Oxford University BC
Hometown: Rossendale, Lancashire

Martha learnt to row at age 18 at Mansfield College, where her favourite parts of rowing soon came to be working hard with friends, curating playlists for workouts, and shouting!
This hasn’t changed over the years. Her biggest supporters are her family at home who will often say “win, lose or draw” that they’re proud of her, even though the last dead heat recorded was at the Boat Race in 1877.
Martha never imagined herself being a rower as she always thought she would end up being an artist or a writer. These are dreams that are still as close to her heart as representing Great Britain, and she hopes one day to return to University to study art and continue to connect and communicate with other people who are full of life and love for what they do – just like everyday at training.
