Daisy Ridesdale completes 100km charity row in memory of family friend
After raising more than £2000 for Charlotte’s Room, Daisy took to the waters at the British Rowing Club Championships
AB Severn Rowing Club’s Daisy Ridesdale has successfully rowed 100km in memory of her close family friend.
In December 2025, Bella Amphlett sadly died from a brain aneurysm. On 3 June, Daisy set out on her fundraising row, with the goal of completing 100km for the charity Charlotte’s Rooms, a small, family-led charity transforming hospital family rooms into calm, comforting spaces.
Daisy’s completed her challenge on 6 July, which would have been Bella’s 21st birthday.
“One of the hardest bits was actually finishing because I knew it was Bella’s birthday when I was finishing,” said Daisy.
“I think the hardest part was probably doing it for her and knowing she wasn’t going to be at the finish line.
“The conditions in the middle of the challenge were also really challenging, and I thought I was going to capsize in certain parts. I kept pushing through it, and I did it, knowing what I was doing it for. I kept that in mind, and I just kept pushing through it.
Daisy came up with the fundraising idea after having dinner with Bella’s parents. On the drive home, Daisy voiced that she wanted to do something to help, as Bella had always been someone she could turn to and talk to. She was always so kind and had time for everyone.
Come the British Rowing Club Championships, Daisy had more than doubled her fundraising target of £1,000, with her total standing at £2,030.
“It was really nice to be able to raise more than I had hoped. I know it will all go for a good cause and it will go towards her.”
The support of the club, friends, and family all spurred Daisy across the finish line of the 100km row.
“During the last row, we had two rowers come and help me for the last bit. They were there for the thew whole section and took me in all the way home, which was really nice. They’ve all been there since the beginning, and they’ve all donated. It’s been lovely to have them.
Rowing is a big part of Daisy’s life. Being part of AB Severn Rowing Club has changed her life. It has given her confidence, friendship and a love of rowing. It doesn’t matter how bad her day has been; getting on the water and rowing helps blow everything away, and life is good again.
Alongside her 100km row, Daisy has been balancing training for the British Rowing Club Championships. Alongside Molly Goodwin, the two raced in the Women’s J14 Double Sculls. After a fierce time trial, the two battled in the E Final, placing second after a tight tussle with Lambton Rowing Club.

“Coming into the last 250, there was a bit of stress and a little bit of panic. Other than that, we were feeling good, feeling strong, and pushed as hard as we could.
“It’s one of the best feelings crossing the finish line with one of your friends.”
