Dr David Zideman LVO wins Lifetime Achievement Award
Congratulations to Dr David Zideman, whose lifetime of service has been recognised at a recent awards ceremony
Dr David Zideman has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 Air Ambulances UK Annual Conference and Awards of Excellence.
As current chair of the British Rowing Medical Advisory Panel, David has had a huge impact on rowing in this country.
David has shaped emergency and pre-hospital medicine globally for more than five decades. A founding member of the Resuscitation Council and author of over 130 scientific papers, his work continues to influence clinical practice worldwide. His leadership across the British Association for Immediate Care (BASICS), St John Ambulance, and the London 2012 Olympic Games, alongside his service as Honorary Physician to the Queen, reflects a career defined by innovation, education, and dedication to patient care.
David is the senior clinical advisor on the medical directorate of Thames Valley Air Ambulance. He is also a Member of the International Olympic Committee Medical and Scientific Medical Expert Group for the Olympic Games.
The presentation of this award follows another special occasion, when David presented the Asmund S Laerdal lecture, ‘A celebration of the life and multiple contributions to resuscitation science by Professor Douglas Chamberlain,’ at the 2025 Resuscitation Council UK conference.  He and the late great Professor Chamberlain are the only two people to have presented the lecture twice since its inception in 1990.
