Rowing volunteers are the glue that really hold our clubs together, creating that special club spirit and community. The sport is what it is thanks to the dedication of many people up and down the country – and every year we celebrate their contributions at our British Rowing Awards.

Because of the current pandemic, it’s not been possible to celebrate in our normal way, so instead we will be spotlighting nominations for the 2020 British Rowing Awards on our website and social media from Saturday 26 December through to Thursday 31 December. These awards are for contributions to our sport in 2019.

The regional winners for each category have been chosen from the British Rowing Regions and have been selected by our Regional Chairs. These names make up the shortlist for each category and we’ll be highlighting their great work as the week unfolds.

An overall winner will be selected from this shortlist by our Awards Panel and we’ll be announcing the national winner in each of our categories as well, so be sure to keep a look out on our website and social media as we spotlight new nominations and winners every day.

The categories of awards below honour people and achievements across the volunteer, coach and rower community:

  • Rising Star of the Year
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Crew of the Year – in University, School and Junior plus Club categories
  • Coach of the Year
  • Beryl Crockford Award
  • Project of the Year
  • Club of the Year
  • Lifetime Achievement Awards
  • Medal of Merit
  • Medal of Honour

We announced our shortlist for each of the awards earlier this year and you can remind yourself of the winners here.
