A number of top junior rowers will face off this week in the 37th edition of the J16 Great Britain v France Match, with the home team looking to regain the title in 2017.

Last year, in Valenciennes, north east France, the French team broke a five-year spell of dominance by GB, taking the win by eight points to five. The Brits won the men’s and women’s eight, both coxless four events and the men’s double scull.

Schools and clubs from England and Scotland are represented in the 51-strong team, with the athletes taking to the water at the London Regatta Centre at the Royal Albert Docks on Thursday, 13 July.

Racing starts at 10am with the women’s eight, culminating at 12.20pm. British Rowing Chairman Annamarie Phelps CBE will be presenting the medals after the match alongside French delegate Lionel Girard.
