Henley Royal Regatta names new Stewards

Fiona Dennis, Chairman of British Rowing’s Competition Committee, has been named as one of three new Stewards of Henley Royal Regatta.

Fiona has been elected alongside Olympic Champions Mark Hunter and Tom James to the prestigious position, in recognition of her contribution to the sport.

‘Fiona has played an important role in many key areas of British Rowing,’ read the HRR announcement. ‘She is a past member of both the British Rowing Council and the British Rowing Executive Board. For many years she was the Chairman of the British Rowing Championships as well as being Chairman of the Race Committee for the Henley Women’s Regatta and the Women’s Head of the River Race.’

“I am delighted that the Stewards have recognised the contribution of these three rowers to our sport, and that they will continue to work in the sport through this event for many, many years to come,” said British Rowing Chairman Annamarie Phelps. “Fiona’s huge experience in event organisation will be a great asset to the Regatta, and both Mark and Tom have been involved in supporting the sport in a much wider way than merely as the elite athletes for which they are best known.”
