Freeman-Pask and adaptive double safely through

Adam Freeman-Pask and the Paralympic class double scull of James Roberts and Sam Scowen moved through safely at the World Rowing Championships in Poznan, Poland, after both took second places in the morning’s repechages.[img_assist|nid=3381|title=James Roberts (left) and Sam Scowen qualify from their double scull repechage|desc=Picture: Peter Spurrier|link=none|align=middle|width=642|height=430]

Freeman-Pask led for the first half of his repechage of the lightweight single scull before being beaten to the line by Mohsen Shadi Naghadeh of Iran. Both men now move into Friday’s semi-finals.

Sam Scowen and James Roberts banished the cobwebs of the heats to start well in their adaptive double scull repechage. They led the field at halfway knowing that they had to keep an eye on the Italians and Belarussians.

In the second half of their race they locked horns with the Italians, who were faster than them in yesterday’s heats. With 200m to go the Italians began to edge ahead and took the verdict on the line by a narrow margin but with two going through into the final. All three British boats in the Paralympic classes are now through to Saturday’s finals.[img_assist|nid=3382|title=Adam Freeman-Pask moved safely into semi-finals|desc=Picture: Peter Spurrier|link=none|align=left|width=283|height=372]

Four of GB Rowing’s Olympic class boats are set to race in tomorrow’s repechages. The women’s eight and quadruple scull will seek to replicate the good form they showed in yesterday’s heats and should progress if they do.

Racing at their first world championships, the lightweight men’s four will seek to move a stage further. They are all rowers who have come through the sport’s talent identification system and are on a steep learning curve this season.

The GB men’s quadruple scull is fighting to regain fitness after recent illness in the crew and will have a tough task. GB’s lightweight men’s pair will also be in repechage action in the international classes and the lightweight women’s quadruple scull will contest a seeding race for Sunday’s final.

The Regatta moves into its semi-final stages on Thursday and seven GB crews will be in action including Andrew Triggs Hodge and Pete Reed, the Olympic men’s four champions who are racing here in a pair.
