Summer rowing and sculling courses

Unfortunately this year’s Eton Rowing Courses have been cancelled due to Swine flu.

If you need to find another rowing course there are several happening up and down the country as well as in London. Here’s a quick overview…..

London Youth Rowing

London Youth Rowing are organising a series of week long summer sculling courses in July and August. They are ideal for absolute beginners between the ages of 11 and 18. The courses would also appeal to anyone who has not considered rowing ever before.

Each course costs £15 and will be held at the following LYR affiliated rowing clubs:  London Regatta Centre, Newham; Lea Rowing Club, Hackney and Barn Elms Boathouse, Wandsworth.

Royal Chester Rowing Club 

Royal Chester Rowing Club will be running a series of rowing courses throughout August for juniors. There will be opportunities to learn to row, scull, cox and train on land with an ergo. Any enquiries can be e-mailed to Mike Palamarczuk [email protected]

Team Durham

Team Durham are running a selection of residential rowing courses from 10th – 14th and 16th – 21st August, is aimed at involving leading performers from the current J14, J15 and J16 age groups, and provide them with training and skills to prepare for National Schools and GB Junior trials in the forthcoming years.

The courses will run from July 27th to 31st and August 3rd and 7th 2009. The cost will be £300 per person which includes lunch and light refreshments.

Alec Hodges Sculling Course at TSS

Tideway Scullers School are running the Alec Hodges Summer Sculling Course from 10th – 14th August 2009, 9.00am – 4pm each day.

The course is open to athletes of any sculling ability, both and rowers and scullers, adult and juniors (11 to 17 years old). It is designed for anyone who wants to improve their sculling ability – from new beginners to confident scullers. 

The fee of £190 includes lunches and refreshments for the 5 days.
