The quartet of Charles Cousins, Bill Lucas, Sam Townsend and Simon Fieldhouse finished second in their repechage to qualify comfortably for a place in tomorrow’s final. The British crew held off early pressure from Egypt and had established their position just behind leaders Slovenia by the half-way stage. A confident performance earned them second place and a slot in the final. ADVERT Also in action today was GB’s women’s single scull. In one of the closest races of the day, young talent Tina Stiller missed out on a place in the final by an extremely narrow margin – just 0.06 seconds. Stiller needed to finished in either first or second place to reach the final. Spain took the lead by half-way, leaving Stiller and her Danish countepart to fight for that vital second place. For the last 1000m it was neck and neck with Stiller even just ahead with 500m to go but ultimately missing out in the final stretch. Along with the quad, GB’s women’s pair and adaptive crews will also be in action tomorrow in the finals session, having qualified through racing earlier in the week.
