She will be part of the Camelot-sponsored women’s quadruple scull with Katherine Grainger, Rebecca Romero and Frances Houghton who were forced to miss the Henley Royal Regatta last week to give Winckless time to recover. The quartet are world cup leaders going into this weekend’s finals. So, too are the men’s four, also backed by Camelot. Whilst the men have an unassailable lead, only the Ukraine can catch the women to take the World Cup Trophy. Peter Wells has not returned to full fitness and will be unable to contest the single scull in Lucerne. The women’s lightweight quadruple scull have been forced to withdraw due to an injury to Lorna Norris – an injury which also forced them to scratch from their event at Henley Royal Regatta.ADVERT FISA, the world rowing governing body, has announced that 700 athletes from 42 nations will race in 22 events in Lucerne, making this one of the stiffest tests yet for all GB crews this season. GB Rowing has announced that its World Championships squad will be announced on Thursday 14 July (see media invitation below). The World Championships are in Gifu, Japan, from August 28th – September 4th.
