22nd June 2026 - Early ID Event, Home Pierrepoint National Watersports Centre, Nottingham
British Rowing is searching for talented young rowers with the potential to represent Great Britain on the international stage in the Beach Sprint format. Our aim is to identify a group of J16 rowers to represent GB at the 2026 Coupe de la Jeunesse Beach Sprints in Portugal, and begin their pathway into international Beach Sprint competition.
No previous Beach Sprint experience is required. Rowers from all rowing backgrounds are encouraged to attend and explore their potential within the format. Coaches are also strongly encouraged to attend to learn more about the format.
Event Details
The event will take place immediately following the GB-France trial, and therefore provides an opportunity for those J16s already in Nottingham to take part without the need for additional travel, as well as those travelling for the event specifically. The event is designed to assess potential both of those who have no previous experience within the Beach Sprint format and those who have taken part in Beach Sprints previously.
Event Format
All races will take place over a 250m straight line course at the National Water Sports Centre, using Beach Sprint boats. Boats and blades will be provided. Additional ergo testing may be conducted on the day.

The training camp will focus on developing racing skills specific to the Beach Sprint format, including racing on open water and navigating the Beach Sprint course environment.
Following the camp, rowers will take part in the English Junior Beach Sprint Championships (8-9 August, Studland Bay, Dorset), and from there may be invited to stay for the final selection trials for the GB Coupe de la Jeunesse Beach Sprint team (10 August).
