Membership Terms and Conditions

1.  Terms and Conditions

1.1.  These Terms and Conditions comprise a number of rights and responsibilities relevant to Registered Individuals. They become binding on a Registered Individual once that individual has applied for, and subsequently been accepted to a type of membership subscription (‘Type of Membership Subscription’).

1.2 All Registered Individuals are subject to the Regulations of British Rowing and agree to be bound by and observe all other codes, regulations, rules, and policies published by British Rowing from time to time. All codes, regulations, rules, and policies can be found at https://www.britishrowing.org/about-us/policies-guidance/

1.3 The Codes, Regulations, Rules and Policies of British Rowing apply to all Registered Individuals participating in rowing for a minimum of 12 months from the commencement, or renewal of membership.

1.4 All Registered Individuals shall be deemed to have made themselves familiar with, and agreed to be bound by, the UK Anti-Doping Rules and British Rowing’s Anti-Doping Policy and to submit to the authority of UK Anti-Doping in the application and enforcement of the Anti-Doping Rules.

2.  Membership Subscription

2.1.  Upon acceptance a Registered Individual shall be designated with one of the following Types of Membership Subscription:

RACE – Scottish and OverseasAvailable to persons aged 11 or above who permanently reside outside of England and Wales, and are a member of their respective national rowing federation.Annual/renewable right to participate within British Rowing competitions run by Affiliated Members, only. No addition benefits or rights are issued with the Racing Licence.
INDOOR – monthly & annuallyAvailable to persons aged 11 or above This membership subscription is no longer available via British Rowing Membership software and must be bought at www.insideindoor.com Inside Indoor subscription terms and conditions can be found here.  Unlimited access to rowing content on Inside Indoor. No additional benefits or rights are issued with the indoor rowing subscription.

INDOOR – monthly & annually
Description:
Available to persons aged 11 or above
Rights:
This membership subscription is no longer available via British Rowing Membership software and must be bought at www.insideindoor.com Inside Indoor subscription terms and conditions can be found here.  Unlimited access to rowing content on Inside Indoor. No additional benefits or rights are issued with the indoor rowing subscription.

2.2.   British Rowing reserves the right to re-brand or re-name the Types of Membership Subscription at any time.

2.3.   Types of Membership Subscription rights are not transferable to another individual.

 

3.  Membership Card

3.1.  Upon acceptance within a Type of Membership Subscription a Registered Individual shall be issued with a digital card (‘Membership Card’) by British Rowing supplied via membership software; JustGo.

3.2.  The Membership Card (including both physical and digital versions) will constitute an acceptable form of identification at competitions run by Affiliated Members, and to obtain access to British Rowing Membership Subscription benefits.

3.3.  The Membership Card is non-transferrable and must only be used by the relevant Registered Individual. Misuse of the Membership Card may result in disciplinary action being taken against the relevant Registered Individual.

 

4.  Insurance

4.1.  All Types of Membership Subscription (excluding Community membership) provide insurance cover for all Registered Individuals taking part in British Rowing activity, as detailed at https://www.britishrowing.org/insurance/.

4.2.  Personal Accident cover is not available to any relevant Registered Individual who is

4.2.1.  Over eighty (80) years old; or

4.2.2.  Does not reside permanently in the United Kingdom.

4.3  Professional indemnity insurance is not available for Membership Subscribers of RACE, ROW, UMPIRE, COMMUNITY and INDOOR.

 

5.  Benefits

5.1.  All Registered Individuals are eligible to receive certain benefits provided by British Rowing. The price and duration of the relevant benefits are subject to change over time and are at the sole and absolute discretion of British Rowing.

5.2.  When seeking to use the benefits of a Type of Membership Subscription, a Registered Individual may be required at any time to produce a valid and current Membership Card.

 

6.  Application for Membership Subscription, Renewal Payment and Upgrades

6.1.  Any person may apply to become a Registered Individual within one of the Types of Membership Subscription referred to in paragraph 2 above. Types of Membership Subscription can be applied for by completing any application form via online, post, or over the phone.

6.2.  British Rowing shall be entitled to refuse an application form, or suspend, or cancel the Membership Subscription of any individual in its absolute discretion. British Rowing is not obliged to provide reasons for any action taken of this nature. However, potential reasons include, but are not limited to, breach of the Regulations or these Terms and Conditions, or an instruction from the Disciplinary and Grievance Panel or Safeguarding Case Management Group.

6.3.  Former British Rowing Platinum Membership Subscribers are entitled to receive RACE Membership Subscription indefinitely.

6.4.  British Rowing RACE, ROW, COACH and COMMUNITY Membership Subscription commences from the day of purchase and expires after 12 months.

6.5.  If a Registered Individual is also a British Rowing Umpire, they are eligible to receive Umpire Membership Subscription. Umpire commences from the date of purchase and may be extended to the September of the relevant year, free of charge in order to align with the umpiring year.

6.6.  Membership Subscription can be renewed subject to payment of the relevant subscription fee for the subsequent year at any time up to two months in advance of the expiry date. Regardless of the renewal date within this two month period the new Membership Subscription will start the day after the previous Membership Subscription ends.

6.7.  If a Membership Subscription is not renewed by the expiry date it will cease with immediate effect.

6.8.  Payment can be made online via British Rowing’s online platforms, over the phone via credit/debit card, cheque, or by setting up a Direct Debit.

6.9.  By setting up a Direct Debit, a Membership Subscription will be automatically renewed and the Registered Individual will automatically be charged the relevant subscription price on an annual basis until the Registered Individual instructs to cancel the Membership Subscription before the end of the year.

6.10.  A Registered Individual may apply at any time to upgrade their Type of Membership Subscription. The relevant payment for the intended upgrade must be made in full, and no credit will be given for payments already made for a Membership Subscription year.

 

7.  Changes to Terms and Conditions

7.1.  British Rowing may amend these Terms and Conditions at any time and Registered Individuals should therefore check them each time they renew their Membership Subscription. The terms and conditions applying to Membership Subscription will be those in place on the date of purchase.

 

8.  Expiry, Cancellation and Refunds

8.1.  Upon expiry of a Membership Subscription all rights and benefits in respect of that Membership Subscription will cease.

8.2.  When purchasing a Membership Subscription Registered Individuals have a seven-day cooling off period during which the subscription can be cancelled and a full refund received unless during that seven-day period the Registered Individual has competed in a British Rowing competition run by Affiliated Members.

8.3.  If a Registered Individual decides to cancel their Membership Subscription after this seven-day period, no refund will be received (unless British Rowing in its absolute discretion decides to).

 

9.  Data Protection

9.1.  British Rowing collects personal information when an individual becomes a Registered Individual, or when a Registered Individual uses services or products that require the collection of personal information.

9.2.  British Rowing will use this information to provide the services requested (including sharing information with British Rowing affiliated competitions), maintain records, notify members of important information regarding an individual’s Membership Subscription (such as renewal notices), develop the organisation and, if the Registered Individual agrees, send the Registered Individual  information on things which may be of interest to them.

9.3.  British Rowing may occasionally pass such information to its suppliers/partners to receive services or products relating to Membership Subscription that are not fulfilled directly by British Rowing. Unless explicitly stated, British Rowing does not share such information for marketing purposes with any other organisations.

9.4.  Registered Individuals should review the British Rowing Privacy Policy for further information as to how their personal data is handled.

 

10.  Minors

10.1.  If a Registered Individual is a Minor (child or young adult who is not yet 18), the parent/carer of the Registered Individual must agree to comply with the British Rowing Code of Conduct.

10.2 The British Rowing Codes, Regulations Rules, and Policies apply to all Registered Individuals, including Minors (children and young adults who are not yet 18), and in accordance with the Anti-Doping Policy, all Registered Individuals are subject to drug testing. For the purposes of those rules, consent of a parent or carer to the testing of a minor is deemed to follow automatically from the fact that the minor has been permitted by their parent/carer to participate in rowing. Any minors participating in rowing, therefore, may be subject to drug testing. More information about this can be found at www.britishrowing.org/knowledge/cleansport/
