Tideway Scullers School – Assistant Club Coach

Join one of the UK’s premier rowing clubs and help shape the next generation of scullers. Tideway Scullers School is seeking an Assistant Club Coach (ACC) to lead our J13-15 groups, whilst also supporting our senior and performance junior squads.

About the Role

As ACC, you’ll guide young scullers from their first strokes to national-level racing, developing their skills, confidence, and love for the sport. You’ll also contribute to coaching across the club, working closely with our experienced team to deliver a high-quality rowing programme.

This position is 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week) at a salary of £30k pro rata. Time is split between coaching (on-water and land), programme planning, and club support activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the J13–15 squad, teaching those new to the sport to scull and preparing athletes for both local and National events.
  • Develop and implement the technical curriculum for beginner groups in collaboration with performance coaches.
  • Feed into and implement the training programme for J13–15 squads.
  • Coordinate assistant session coaches to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
  • Support coaching across the junior, senior, and masters squads as part of the wider TSS coaching team.
  • Report to the Director of Rowing and collaborate closely with other club coaches.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential
  • Experience coaching junior athletes as part of a team (full or part time).
  • Basic coaching qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check.
Desirable
  • RYA Level 2 launch driving qualification.
  • Trailer driving licence / experience of driving trailers.
  • Up to date Safeguarding training.
