Adventurer Series

Take on the Adventurer Series – an exciting running, walking or rowing challenge for individuals and clubs throughout the lockdown

Travel the world with British Rowing as we bring you 11 stages of our challenge series inspired by famous locations around the globe. Every week during the lockdown, we’ll bring you a new challenge which you can complete running or on an indoor rowing machine. The challenges have been designed to keep you inspired and active while you train from home and it’s free for everyone and suitable for all ages and abilities.

Challenge 1 – Élysées Champs

Week 1 of the British Rowing Adventurer Series takes us to Paris and the famous Champs-Élysées, home to the finish of the Tour de France. Row or run the 1910m from the Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe.

Challenge 2 – Pyramid Circuits, Egypt

The second week of our Adventurer Series takes us to Egypt and the Great Pyramid. Row, run or walk three laps of the base of the pyramid – 2,764m.

Challenge 3 – Machu Picchu Head, Peru

Opens – 28 January
Closes – midnight, 10 February

The third week of our Adventurer Series takes us to Peru and the incredible city of Machu Picchu. Row, run or walk up to the altitude of the Machu Picchu – 2,430m above sea level.

Challenge 4 – Head of the Golden Gate Bridge, USA

Closes – midnight, 17 February

We’re sticking with the Americas it but it’s up to the USA for week 4 of our Adventurer Series. It’s off to San Fransisco and a race across the length of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Challenge 5 – Kili Challenge, Tanzania
Opens – 10 February
Closes – midnight, 24 February

It’s a longer challenge this week as our Adventurer Series moves to Africa – it’s a race up to height of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania – how quickly can you get up the 5,895m?

Challenge 6 – Karapiro Head, New Zealand
Opens – 18 February
Closes – 23:59, 3 March

We’re off to the Island of the Long White Cloud, New Zealand and the training base of the New Zealand Rowing Team. In the first of our team challenges, find a partner and row the length of Lake Karapiro, 11km.

Challenge 7 – Sydney Harbour Dash, Australia
Opens – 25 February
Closes – 23:59, 10 March

This week, we’re hopping over the Tasman Sea for a sprint race across the Sydney Harbour Bridge. With a partner you need to run, walk or row the distance back and forth on the bridge – 4,596m.

Challenge 8 – Everest Head, Nepal
Opens – 4 March
Closes – 23:59, 17 March

This week it’s time for a team of four and we’re off to Nepal- you need to run, walk or row the distance from Everest Base Camp to the summit – 20,000m.

Challenge 9 – Singapore Sling, Singapore
Opens – 11 March
Closes – 23:59, 24 March

We’re sticking in Asia and this week’s challenge is a nod to the famous Singapore Sling cocktail first created at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. It’s a team of four again and you need to run, walk or row the distance across Singapore – 27,000m.

Challenge 10 – Mount Fuji, Japan
Opens – 18 March
Closes – 23:59, 31 March

This week we’re off to Japan to climb the height of Mount Fuji. It’s a team of four again and you need to run, walk or row the height of the mountain – 13,504m.

Challenge 12 – Head of the Mall
Opens – 25 March
Closes – 23:59, 7 April

For our final challenge of the Adventurer Series, we’re back home for a finishing sprint on the Mall in London. In your team of 4, it’s a lap each of the mall to make up the total dsiatnce of 7,440m.
