The Offshore & Ocean Rowing Club – Club Manager
The Offshore & Ocean Rowing Club is seeking an experienced, practical, and safety-focused Club Manager to support teams training for offshore and ocean rowing challenges, including the GB Row Challenge and oversee day-to-day club operations.
This is not a conventional marine operations role. The boats don’t just train crews to row 2,000 miles around Britain.
They also contribute directly to world-leading marine science, acting as mobile research platforms, collecting vital data on:
• Ocean temperature
• Microplastics pollution
• Underwater sound and noise
• Marine biodiversity (eDNA)
About the Role
The Club Manager is responsible for the safe, professional, and efficient operation of the Offshore & Ocean Rowing Club.
The Club supports teams training for offshore and ocean rowing challenges, including the GB Row Challenge. Members rely on the Club to provide fully maintained ocean rowing boats, compliant safety equipment, and high-quality training support to enable them to complete the required 200 hours of qualifying sea time and prepare for demanding offshore expeditions.
In addition to training operations, the Club supports marine science activity by enabling boats to safely carry scientific equipment that collects data on ocean temperature, microplastics, underwater sound, and marine biodiversity in partnership with leading universities.
This role carries direct responsibility for safety, asset readiness, and service delivery. Boats, equipment, and systems must be maintained to ensure they are operational, compliant, and ready for all booked training sessions.
