Olympic GamesGB Rowing Team at Rio 2016 GB Rowing Team at Rio 2016 In total, 56 Olympic and Paralympic rowers competed at Rio 2016; 35 men and 21 women. 47 athletes made up the Olympic rowing squad and nine made up the Paralympic rowing squad. Here’s some quick facts about our rowers in Rio. Rachel Morris (left below) was the oldest member of the Paralympic squad and Lauren Rowles (right below) was the youngest member of the Paralympic squad. Rachel Morris Both Katherine Grainger and Frances Houghton were the first female British rowers to compete at five Olympic Games; an Olympic rowing career spanning over 20 years. There were 28 debutants in the Olympic and Paralympic squad.
