Boat classes

The following boat classes will be raced matching the categories at the 2018 World Rowing Coastal Championships.

  • Open (M) CM1x, CM2x, CM4x+
  • Women (W) CW1x, CW2x, CW4x+

Boats for the Offshore Championships need to be left on-site as the movement of boats onto and off the beach is restricted to certain time periods as it is open access to the public. During the British Rowing Offshore Championships there will be 24 hour security for all boats and equipment left on site.

Information relating to the drop off time for boats will be shared nearer the event.

Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each of the events.

Boat types

All boats used must conform to the British Rowing Rules of Racing, Rule 14, Appendix F, Offshore Rowing Competition Rules.

  • Solo (C1x)
  • Double (C2x)
  • Coxed Quadruple Sculls (C4x+)
Boat hire

Pool boats will be available to hire at the British Rowing Offshore Championships, for £30 per seat, not including coxes. If you require a boat please contact us by email.

Training

Times for training will be made available after entries have closed. Training times will be available around the Commonwealth Rowing Beach Sprint event taking place on 17-18 August 2018.

Life jackets

All competitors must supply their own manually inflated life jacket (not buoyancy aid).

Oars

All competitors must supply their own oars.

British Rowing membership

To take part in the British Rowing Offshore Championships you need to have a minimum of a British Rowing Silver membership.

Membership of British Rowing provides a number of benefits including the important racing insurance. Please see the British Rowing website for more details and to purchase your membership.

Overseas Crews Policy

We welcome overseas crews to race at the British Rowing Offshore Championships. The first 3 overseas crews per event will be guaranteed entry, after this any further overseas crews will be placed on a standby list. Once entries have closed crews on the standby list will be notified if their entry has been successful.

 

Retail Village

Exhibitors who would like to attend the event need to contact Jonna de Vries, to register their interest.

 

World Rowing Coastal Championships

For those looking to enter the World Rowing Coastal Championships, the British Rowing Offshore Championships provides an opportunity for crews to be ranked for the World Rowing Coastal Championships.

The top five ranked boats ranked at the 2018 Britsih Rowing Offshore Championships will be guaranteed an entry for the 2018 World Rowing Coastal Championships. Crews not attending British Rowing Offshore Championships may still enter the World Rowing Coastal Championships but may have to qualify on the day before the 2018 World Rowing Coastal Championships begin.

Trailers

Trailers cannot be parked on Sandbanks Beach, all boats need to be left on site during the event. Details of where trailers can park over the weekend will be shared in advance of the event.
