Beyond the Boat

As a youngster, Scott played rugby competitively, representing West of Scotland, and Scotland U18s.

Aged 19, Scott joined the Army, and commenced his training with the elite 2nd Battalion Parachute regiment. From a group of 62 starting basic training, he was one of only 14 to pass out. Soon after being deployed to Afghanistan, Scott lost both of his legs in an IED explosion.

Following a year in rehabilitation, and with the assistance of the Help for Heroes sports recovery programme, Scott took up competitive sport again. He attended a para-rowing development camp during the London 2012 Paralympic Games and says that he feels privileged to now be able to compete at a high level.

Scott is involved with a number of charities, including Horseback UK. His favourite TV show is Remember the Titans and he lists Winston Churchill, The Duke of Wellington and Batman as his three ideal dinner guests.

Scott is Lottery Funded through UK Sport.
