Gabriel started rowing at Tideway Scullers School just after his 11th birthday, and he continues to represent the club today.

Gabriel’s rowing achievements began in earnest in his final year at TSS when, under the coaching of Chris Williams, his quad won the National Schools Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta. Having trained consistently throughout the UK’s COVID Lockdown, Gabriel came into his final junior racing season having developed on the ergometer, with the GB Junior 2k record of 5:49.6 at just 17.

This junior success brought Gabriel to Harvard University, where he won races against every US collegiate programme. Learning from the legendary Charley Butt, his college highlights include winning 2 Harvard Yale Regattas, 2 IRA silver medals, and in his final year, an Eastern Sprints Championship. During his summers in college, Gabriel represented Great Britain at the World Rowing U23 Championships, winning 3 gold medals in the Men’s Eight.

After graduating from Harvard in 2025 with the Francis H. Burr Scholarship, Gabriel enrolled at Cambridge University. Representing the light blue, Gabriel had an unbeaten season, winning the Head of the Charles Regatta, Trial Eights, the Leander and Oxford Brookes fixtures, and the 2026 Chanel J12 Boat Race.

Now training out of the National Training Centre, and chosen to represent GB in the Men’s Eight, Gabriel is working towards his ultimate goal of winning an Olympic gold medal.
