Event Detail:

Hexham Rowing Club is a unique rowing club offering a wide range of rowing and sculling opportunities, welcoming all abilities and levels of experience. We have a healthy approach to rowing, allowing you to balance the sport with your work and family life, either as a recreational rower, or a competitive British Rowing-licensed race rower. We train throughout the year and aim to achieve race goals too, taking part in local regattas and head races, as well as some further afield, and pride ourselves on offering you a fun social calendar.

Whether you’ve been inspired by the Olympics, or just fancy trying a paddle, our Learn to Row (L2R) course is perfect for you! Absolutely no experience necessary - over the years, we’ve welcomed everyone, from the nervous and the unfit to those ticking off a bucket list. The course is also perfect for anyone who used to row and would like to get back into the sport. Our friendly and fully equipped rowing facility is ready for all levels and offers a safe and supportive environment to get you started.

Over the six week course, we welcome eager beginners or return-to-rowers to come and Learn to Row with us!

What will I learn: In the six weeks, you will learn the fundamentals of rowing, gain confidence in your rowing skills, become fit, and enjoy the incredible experience of being on the water. Additionally, you'll learn about boats and oars, practise proper posture and boat handling, and understand health and safety protocols. Training takes place on our rowing machines and on the River Tyne.

What happens after the course:

Many who take part in the course go on to become full members of our club. The club offers two club sessions on weekdays and 2 club sessions on weekends as well as winter indoors training (spinning classes).

What’s included: For just £99, you’ll enjoy six weeks of coaching from our qualified rowing coaches, Learn to Row (L2R) materials, 6-months of British rowing membership, and full use of our club facilities for the duration of the course. This includes a fleet of rowing boats, changing rooms, and rowing machines (ergs). Once you’re done, you’ll even have the chance to join our club and keep the rowing fun going!

Age limit: Our course is open to anyone over the age of 18. Whether you're a young adult or young at heart, you're welcome to join us!
