Lead Coach to Junior Squad – Hexham Rowing Club

Hexham Rowing Club is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Lead Coach to help drive the continued development of our junior rowing programme. They are looking for someone who can inspire young athletes, create a positive coaching environment, and support rowers from beginner level through to racing and competition.

About the Role

The successful candidate will coach in a professional, encouraging and creative way, build strong relationships with parents and volunteers. The role requires a strong commitment to safeguarding, welfare and safe practice at all times, in line with British Rowing guidance and club procedures. The Lead Coach will work with a small team of coaches and be supported by our Junior Coordinators and Club Committee. We have a wonderful squad of experienced and novice athletes who love their sport. Training takes place on a beautiful stretch of the River Tyne in Hexham, Northumberland and we have a good fleet of boats and equipment to support training and racing.

Key details:

  • Based at Hexham Rowing Club and riverside training locations, with most activity taking place outdoors.
  • Weekend work is essential including attending local and national events.
  • Additional hours will be available for events and extra coaching as required.
  • Rowing coaching experience required, with emphasis on coaching juniors preferred.
  • Must have Level 2 Coaching certificate or equivalent and British Rowing Coach membership.
  • Must be capable or willing to learn to use ClubHub, BROE, Microsoft Office/Google sheets.
  • Must be organised with good communication skills to deliver coaching to junior athletes, lead the team of coaches, discuss with parents and volunteers including Junior Coordinators and the Hexham Rowing Club Committee.
  • Must be self-employed
