British Rowing Delegate, Coupe de la Jeunesse

British Rowing are seeking a skilled ambassador to represent Great Britain at the Coupe de la Jeunesse and champion their interests across Europe.

Our Values

British Rowing is a values-driven organisation, proud to lead a sport built on respect, integrity, inclusion, teamwork and excellence.

The Role

British Rowing is seeking a confident, well-connected ambassador to represent Great Britain at the Coupe de la Jeunesse – the annual U19 European rowing event featuring 17 nations in both Classic and Beach Sprint formats. This is a high-profile role at the intersection of sport, diplomacy, and governance, requiring someone who can influence outcomes, build strong international relationships, and champion British Rowing’s strategic goals on the European stage.
You’ll be our voice in key decisions like selecting future venues and shaping competition rules, while acting as the vital link between the Coupe Executive, our BR leadership teams, and the GB Rowing Team. It’s a role for someone with a passion for youth rowing, a strong grasp of the sport’s culture, and the skills to navigate multi-national discussions with professionalism, tact, and impact.

Role Overview

The Coupe de la Jeunesse is an annual under-19 European rowing event involving 17 nations, featuring a Classic regatta and a Beach Sprints competition. The regatta is held over 2000m, with medals awarded each day for men’s, women’s, and combined team competition. Beach Sprints follows a similar 2½-day format.
British Rowing’s delegate plays a vital role in shaping and representing the UK’s interests within this international pathway event. Acting as an ambassador for British Rowing, the delegate promotes our agenda, strengthens relationships with international counterparts, and ensures that Great Britain’s perspective is reflected in all decision-making.

The role involves attendance at:

Winter Meeting: Held at the summer venue for the coming year. Includes course and accommodation inspection, plus administrative planning.
Summer Meeting: Held during the event, with voting on future venues, rule changes, and Coupe Executive elections.
Beach Sprints: Attendance is encouraged, though currently informal for delegates.
Additional ad-hoc virtual meetings may be called for exceptional circumstances (e.g., COVID-related postponements).
