Katherine George

Katherine began rowing when she was 15 years old at Cheltenham Ladies’ College. She tried many other sports growing up but it was only when she started rowing that she started to actually enjoy sport and experience the benefits it can bring t0 one’s life. Her first coach, Julie Edwards, was fundamental in building her passion for the sport by allowing her to grow and develop at her own pace. From school, Katherine was recruited to Princeton University in the Class of ’24, because of Covid however, she took a gap year where she rowed at Leander Club. This year was instrumental to her rowing career as she was able to commit to training full time in a high performance environment, surrounded by several very talented athletes. The year culminated in a 5th place finish at the 2021 Under 23 World Championships in the women’s doubles and a win in the inaugural Wargrave Challenge cup at Henley Royal Regatta.

At Princeton, Katherine was coached by the renowned Lori Dauphiny, from whom she learnt a significant amount, specifically as a sweep rower. During her time in the States, she was a four time winner in the 1st Varisty at the Ivy League Championships and a three time top four finisher at the NCAA championships. She was also a two time nominee for the CRCA Division 1 Athlete of the Year. During her first two summers at Princeton Katherine returned to the UK to continue racing in the Under 23 World Championships in the women’s doubles, placing 3rd and 2nd respectively.

Katherine joined the GB Rowing Team in autumn 2026 and feels very grateful to be able to do the sport she loves full time and is excited to see what the future has in store.
