Rowing Coach for Competitive Squad – Royal Holloway University, London
Royal Holloway University London Boat Club is seeking an experienced and motivated coach to lead their Competitive Squad starting in September 2026. RHULBC is a growing university rowing club with ambitious athletes having competed at various regional and national competitions including BUCS regatta, Henley Women’s Regatta and Fours Head. They are looking for a coach who can develop our competitive athletes, build a strong performance culture and support our squad in achieving its competitive goals.
Key Responsibilities of RHUL BC Competitive Squad Coach:
- Coach three on-water sessions per week.
- Work collaboratively with the development coach, club president and captains to support the progression of athletes.
- Work closely with club captains to design and oversee a structured training plan that incorporates on-water sessions, erg training, strength and conditioning and race preparation.
- Periodise training throughout the year to ensure the competitive squad are prepared for events such as WEHORR, HORR, BUCS Regatta and other target competitions.
- Provide race day coaching and support in future competitions
- Provide leadership and motivation to promote a positive and high performance training environment.
- Liaise with Staines Boat Club, our hosts
Essential Criteria:
- Rowing coaching experience with competitive athletes/crews
- Strong technical understanding of sweeping and sculling
- RYA Powerboat Level 2 qualification
- Full UK driving licence and access to an appropriate vehicle and entitlement to tow club equipment and boat trailer when required
- Strong communication and organisation skills
