Assistant Coach – Mansfield College Boat Club
Mansfield College Boat Club seeks a Lower Boats Coach for the academic year 2026/27, with potential for ongoing employment. The role involves coaching all boats but primarily focusing on the W2 and O2 and collaborating with the Head Coach to establish a unified approach to rowing at Mansfield.
MCBC fosters an inclusive environment, promoting a friendly atmosphere within the club. They haveve 2-3 boats per side, accommodating individuals of all experience levels, eventually allowing novice rowers to have opportunities to progress to a high standard of rowing in bumps. Their team takes pride in collective enthusiasm and team spirit, fostering strong friendships both on and off the water.
Key Responsibilities
Be able to coach for 6-8 sessions a week (mix of bank riding outings and ergs/tanks)
Be available to coach for the full academic year 2026/27, several mornings per week (finishing before 8.30am), and several outings on weekends, shifting to more evening sessions around April
Have the ability to coach novice rowers and returners, as well as novice and experienced coxes
Help create training plans both on and off the water, for term time and the vac
Provide accurate and constructive feedback to both rowers and coxes
Work well with the rest of the coaching team and committee.
