Haberdashers’ Monmouth School Ltd – Rowing Coach
Haberdashers’ Monmouth School is seeking to appoint a Rowing Coach from September 2025.
Summary of the Role:
- To provide rowing coaching to pupils, assisting and supporting the Director of Rowing.
- To attend events within the racing calendar as agreed.
- To keep up to date with First Aid, Life Saving awards and rowing/fitness coaching
Main duties and Responsibilities:
- Â To promote excellence in coaching and learning to help all pupils to develop their potential in Rowing and are fit and equipped for life beyond school, including international representation
- To exemplify in own practice the skills of coaching and learning typified by lead professionals and ensure that good practice is shared throughout Rowing.
- To coach rowing on school games afternoons, after-school sessions and Saturday.
- To take overall responsibility for the training and development of a year group or crew, as directed by the Director of Rowing.
- To monitor pupils’ performance and ensure all rowers maintain high standards.
- To ensure that the value of fair play, teamwork, healthy competition and respect for rules are upheld and promoted.
- To accompany and coach crews at regattas and other competitive rowing events as directed by the Director of Rowing.
- To drive school minibuses/tow boats to and from events as required.
- To assist in the coaching and organisation of the Easter rowing camp and be available for opportunities for the School Rowing Club to compete during the School holidays
- To assist the Director of Rowing in administrative duties.
- To assist with the organisation of rowing social events.
- To assist in preparation and maintenance of weekly training programmes for the year for squads, including river work, ergos, runs, circuits and weight sessions.
- To ensure, so far as reasonably practical, that the safety and security of pupils undertaking rowing activities is not compromised.
- To liaise with other rowing coaches to discuss training requirements and share good practice.
- To offer pastoral support for pupils when away on camps and events

You will be required to work 20¾ hours per week during term time, Monday 1pm to 5.30pm, Wednesday to Friday 1.45pm to 5.30pm and Saturday 8am to 1pm. In addition, you will be required to attend 12 Regattas (some of which will be during holiday periods) and the Easter training camp (between 8 and 11 days).
Salary: £18.25 per hour to £21.33 per hour
