Will Fletcher
Will raced in the lightweight men's four at the 2010 World Rowing U23 Championships in Brest, Belarus, winning gold. This was an exceptional performance. The crew won their heat and semi-final convincingly. In the final, Italy led over the first half and then GB pounced, establishing a clear lead in the 3rd quarter and winning gold by just under a length.
He raced in the lightweight men's quad at the 2009 World U23 Championships, where he won a bronze medal.
Will took up rowing at Tyne Rowing Club because both of his sisters had rowed and enjoyed the sport. One of his sisters, Frances, has represented GB at U23 level too.
Will gained his first international vest when he won a gold medal in the men's four at the GB v France J16 Match in 2006. He followed this with two bronze medals in the same boat at the Coupe de Jeunesse in 2007.
His main hobby outside of rowing is football, which is one of the sports he competed at before he took up rowing. He also enjoys coaching the women and freshers squad at Durham.
